Coconut Aminos A Diabetic Friendly Soy Free Product
What Is Coconut Aminos?
Why I use it!
Coconut Aminos is fermented coconut. The fermenting process turns the coconut into a dark brown syrup. The syrup has a taste equal to soy sauce making this a soy-free product. It has 75% less sodium than soy sauce. The owners of Coconut Secret created this product for their diabetic parents. The carbs are 1g for 1 tsp servings. It cost a little bit more than soy sauce but it is so worth being able to have the flavor without the carbs or the soy. This product is vegan-friendly too.
I use this product a lot in stir-frys, marinades, on plain brown rice. Any place I would have used soy sauce. I am not an affiliate of this product.
I Can Have Teriyaki Sauce Again!
They have other products that I also use. I like the teriyaki sauce. It only has 7g Carbs. Now I can have my teriyaki flavors back in my foods. When I was diagnosed with diabetes I thought I wouldn’t be able to have it again. Teriyaki is usually high in carbs from honey and sugar. This version made with coconut isn’t as full of carbs.
Coconut Crystals Instead Of Sugar
I’ve used coconut crystals for flavoring cookies, teas, and hot or cold cereals. It has a low GI of 35. It gives it a sweet flavor without the use of sugar or honey.
What The Research Says
After I was diagnosed with estrogen-positive cancer I started looking for soy-free products. This is a good one to replace soy sauce and teriyaki sauce.
There is research out there that says soy causes estrogen levels to rise in women. With estrogen-positive cancer, I don’t want to run the risk of getting it back. I try to stay away from soy products as much as I can but it seems to be in EVERYTHING! Whether the research is right or wrong, I don’t want to take the chance. Plus these products are diabetic friendly. If you would like to read more here is a link to Coconut Secret site.
