Canning

This canning category is about preserving fruits and vegetables for later use. Preserving jams and jellies for later use.

Many people every year are getting into the habit of making their own jams and jellies every summer. You can make enough for the year to last until next year.

I can fruits and vegetables to store up enough to last the year. The favorites that I can are peaches, potatoes, green beans, beef broth, bean soup, vegetable soups, salsa, and tomatoes.

I enjoy canning fruits and vegetables. I plan to can new recipes like lemon green beans, dill pickles, raspberry jam and jelly, strawberry jams and jellies, beets, applesauce, and pear sauce.

I am also canning foods for my “in case of emergency” stash of food. When I lost my job in the past, if I had a stock of canned food I wouldn’t have had to spend as much on food.  I could have spent more on bills like electric, water, and rent. It saves quite a bit of money on grocery bills.
